What do other people think of the agent you are considering to sell your home?
Ask family and friends for recommendations. How well did their sale go? Did it take longer than they expected? Was it a bumpy road?
Do you know someone who has bought a property recently? Ask them how it went.
Remember that agents act on behalf of the seller and whilst they must treat buyers with a duty of care, they do take their instructions from the selling client and have to act upon them.
If you don’t know anyone who has moved recently you can look at reviews on agents websites. Bear in mind that they will put all their best ones on there and they might not keep their website up to date.
Check out Google reviews. They have a balance of the good, the bad and the ugly. The ugly being the ones that are unfair, out of step with the others or mean, just because they are not true. Google reviews are nigh on impossible to remove and easy to put on, so you have to consider the overall balance of the reviews.
Take a look at The Best Estate Agent Guide. All the best award winning agents are here. Every agency in the country is included. Agents do not pay a fee to enter and they are marked on communication, results and marketing.
Some agents enter ‘The Estas’. Home movers write reviews on agents they have moved house with in the last year. Agents have to pay to take part so, again not all agents do.
There are other not so well known review websites, some of which require the agent to actively sign up to and a lot of agents don’t bother.
