How do I choose an estate agent to sell my home? Part 9 Comparison Websites

Just like car insurance comparison websites there are ones for estate agents.

The Home Owners Alliance have a website that gives useful advice to both buyers and sellers and has an agent comparison page. You will find it at www.ea4me.hoa.org.uk

They will tell you how successful the agents are, the average days taken to sell, their services and their fees.

They are not completely independent however, as they do advertise one internet agency.

There is also another service called GetAgent

The problem with GetAgent though is they charge referral fees from selling agents. As not all agents are willing to pay these fees, or increase their fee to the client to cover the referral fee they do not want to be included within the site. Therefore chances are if you use this site you will end up paying a higher fee than if you had gone direct to your chosen agent.
